When you think of a magic movie there are several movies with magic in them that come to mind such as The Illusionist. A great magic movie with Edward Norton that came out back in 2006. Others to name include The Craft, Merlin, The Witches of Eastwick with a star studded cast. All of these have one thing in common they are hollywood magic movies. The movie called “Magic” was an incredible one involving a person who fails at his first attempt at professional magic because he has no show business personality. He ends up becoming a schizophrenic ventriloquist but it is a great film. These days though it is The Twilight Saga that has everyone on a terror to get to the movie theater. The Twilight series is a huge one to say the least and with only the second of four movies out it is already breaking records.

Another meaningful type of magic movie is considered to be those movies that have some type of magic or sorcery style in them. Movies like Harry Potter, Practical Magic, and The Race To Magic Mountain. These magic movies all have one thing in common, they portray some sort of magical spells in their plot. Harry Potter is the most popular movies franchise in movie making history and its use of magic has the world reading about sorcery and magic tricks whether fictional or not. There have been several movies based on magic and sorcery for kids of all ages and it has become a phenomenon. There are also of course the superpower movies that show us the supernatural such as the Spiderman, Superman and Iron Man movies. These movies defy the laws of nature and anything we perceive as real yet we are fascinated by their fictional display.

Whenever you visit the city of sin you will see billboards everywhere displaying magicians and illusionists magic shows at the various casinos all around the strip.

The biggest craze going right now are the Twilight movies series. They follow a series of books that have taken the world by storm. Now the silver screen has brought them to life. The first movie was a huge success despite its very low budget. The next is Twilight New moon which is slated to break all sorts of records. Movies and magic have been around for many years and they have always been able to draw millions to the box office to see them and then going on to become box office hits. It aired for about 8 years or so but it was about three sisters who have to live their lives as normally as possible while fighting off demons and keeping the world safe.

One great older movie with magic that comes to mind starred some of my favorite actors. This was Witches of Eastwick and it starred, Jack Nicholson, Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer and Susan Sarandon. One of the biggest new hits is the Twilight series. This series of movies is expected to break records based on the fact that the first Twilight movie was a low budget hit that made hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office. New Moon is the next Twilight movie to hit theaters due out in November and is set to break all sorts of movie records. This movie isn’t about magic but the theme of the movie is set in the same genre as other movies on magic. The Harry Potter movies, in the same genre as the Twilight Series, has been named the most successful of the magic movies series or fantasy since Star Wars was released.

The more I write the more magic shows and movies come to mind. If someone were to sit down and make a list to name movies and magic they would be surprised by the fact that their list would name hundreds of movies and television shows that have been about the subject of magic. As long as people are willing to go out or even stay home and watch movies about magic the studios will continue to create them to meet the demand of the audience.
