Nursing and television just go hand in hand, and therefore there have been some excellent characters created throughout the years. These happen to be amongst the most memorable and will forever remain that way.
Carol Hathaway: No list about nurses would be complete without this famous character on the infamous show, ER. She was known not only for her amazing nursing skills, but also for her ability to stand up for the rights of nurses. She never stood down from an opportunity to tell doctors or anyone else just how important and integral the nurses were within the hospital. She was as well known for her personal life in this character as she was for being a good nurse.
Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan: MASH changed the way that we watched TV forever and will go down as one of the best shows in history. Therefore it only makes sense that this particular nurse from this very famous show earns a place as one of the most talked about and most well known nursing characters to ever be on TV. She was as interesting on a personal level as she was on a professional level, and she really was a good nurse. Though she was often impatient with other nurses or doctors, she always took good care of her patients.
Carla Espinosa: Even if you don’t regularly watch the show, Scrubs, chances are you know who Carla is. She is a witty and often sharp tongued nurse who knows how to put her fellow workers in their place, no matter what they do. She is a good nurse, but is known for her hilarious sarcasm in particular.
Veronica Callahan: Though Mercy is a newer show; she has quickly become a well known nurse and will continue to be so. Not only is she a great nurse, but she brings experience from serving on a tour in Iraq. She is fast on her feet and intolerant to those who do not respect the profession. She will go down as one of the most memorable nursing characters played on TV.
Christina Hawthorne: This new show has become well know because of this character that Jada Pinkett Smith plays seamlessly. The role itself is what has caused a lot of people to watch and she will go down as a memorable nurse character. She fights for patients rights and is the nurse that everybody wishes that they could have if they were in the hospital.
We all watch TV and there are some characters that are more memorable than others. These nursing characters will go down in history as the most memorable out there.
